Biography

Mallika Taneja lives and works in New Delhi, India. She investigates issues of gender, solidarity, quiet and memory through performances, installations and curatorship. She is interested in exploring the political possibilities of a performative ensemble and the role songs can play in leaving and collecting trances of people, places and things. Her productions challenge audiences, raise awkward questions and dent ossified popular opinions. Be Careful had its Dutch premiere as part of Frascati International in 2021. 

Mallika is the founder of the Lost & Found art initiative, which brings art to different neighbourhoods in Delhi. Since 2021 she has also been affiliated to Laguna Collective, a Dutch initiative within which international experts develop and pass on knowledge and skills in the area of humanitarian psycho-social care.

Do you Know This Song?
Do you Know This Song? is the second part of a trilogy about grief and mourning. With puppets, a harmonium and a microphone, Do You Know This Song? re-members a past that keeps trying to speak to a present. The piece explores the potential of song to retrieve, hold and transform memories and loss into a larger shared space.
