Projected across three silver screens, masked figures dance on a desolate, snow-covered beach. Set in an ambiguous, unnamed future, their cheerleading, navigational gestures, and pas de bourrées appear as haunting remnants of a world that has ended.

In this project, Noha is working at the boundaries of in/visibility, looking at what happens next to and beyond the image. In the cut and slide between ‘here and there’, and ‘then and now’, different feelings of presence and dis/connection are brought into existence. But what stands watch at the gates between realms?

This project was commissioned by The Consortium Commissions, an initiative of Mophradat, in partnership with Alkantara and Centrale Fies and will premier at Alkantara Festival, November 15th 2025.

About Noha Ramadan

Noha Ramadan is an Egyptian Australian artist and choreographer living in Amsterdam. Drawing from a long and continuing practice of improvisation, they create performances which attempt to articulate the body’s capacity for multiplicity and change.

Through the use of a distinctly cinematic and poetic language, they are interested in opening a space for questioning the authority of the image, the self and the premise of our shared reality.

In 2017 they co-founded Jacuzzi, an artist-run studio in Amsterdam at the cross-roads of dance, visual arts and time-based media, where they organize and support various projects and collective events.
