Arts as a Weapon
Art as a Weapon is a multi-day public programme on culture wars, propaganda, artistic resistance, and humor. The programme is presented in the context of the performance Three Times Left is Right by Studio Julian Hetzel, and is curated by the makers in dialogue with DAS Theatre and Frascati.
During Art as a Weapon, artists, thinkers, performers, and students come together. In the days leading up to the performances, visitors are invited to reflect on questions such as: how are enemy images constructed? How are emotions mobilized politically? And how do language and images function as weapons, or how can they be dismantled? What does creative resistance look like today?
The programme is not a call for consensus, but for awareness. It invites audiences to see art as a form of resistance: a way to expose how language and images operate, and to question and reclaim them.
Live intervention: In the Belly of the Beast on Thursday, April 2
Ahead of the performance Three Times Left is Right on Thursday, April 2, the live intervention In the Belly of the Beast, will take place at 19:30.
A group of DAS Theatre students will take part in an intensive four-day workshop led by Studio Julian Hetzel and the High on Type Collective. During this workshop, they explore propaganda, slogans, and performative communication as tools for artistic resistance. The process culminates in a live intervention shared with the audience at Frascati.
This programme is in English.
