The Most Boring Artwork is a reflective installation on boredom, attention, and time. A plea for slowness and presence in a world addicted to constant stimulation. By embracing boredom and confronting the discomfort that comes with it, the work turns the gaze back onto the viewer and asks: if we lose the patience to stay with art that doesn’t demand our attention, what else might we be losing?

In an age of constant stimulation, it has become difficult to feel bored. This inability to tolerate discomfort in the absence of stimuli seeps into many aspects of our lives. It shortens our attention spans and makes us less receptive to the beauty of less immediately engaging things.

The belief that “boredom equals failure” extends into the art world as well. The observational posters open up a conversation about the tendency to consume design as entertainment, while the exchange between amusement and boredom is explored further in book form. The work highlights both the conflicting role of designers within this dynamic and their relationship with the audience—and how dopamine-driven habits shape both creation and perception.
