A seemingly loving relationship that slowly tilts: In Yes-Girl, Gavin-Viano combines live music, dance and performance into a raw, poetic theater experience about love, misogyny and femicide in the Netherlands.

Yes-Girl is a fairy tale, a nightmare and an indictment all at once. About the search for love and self-development, about intuition that is ignored and unequal gender dynamics. About disconnecting from your surroundings and the importance of self-worth. And about what happens when it is slowly eroded.

The performance builds on the version that was presented at de Parade in the summer of 2025, now developed into a full theater production in Frascati 4.

About Gavin-Viano

In the summer of 2020, Gavin-Viano graduated as a director from the Toneelacademie Maastricht. For his graduation performance Ach Mijn Wederhelft, he received the DNA Next Encouragement Award in 2020.

Through his work, he aims to engage communities that are not typically given a voice, in order to make Dutch theatre more accessible. He does this by telling non-Western stories, often choosing an anti-white-male-gaze perspective, and deliberately exploring the intersectionality of his characters. In doing so, he creates a world where language, movement, and music merge into one, with humor serving as the glue between the building blocks.

Since 2021, Gavin-Viano has been affiliated with Frascati Producties. His first Frascati production expanded Ach Mijn Wederhelft into a trilogy. His second production with Frascati, Bloodscent, was selected for the Dutch Theatre Festival. In the summer of 2024, Gavin-Viano presented his audiovisual music theatre performance A Shadow Can See at De Parade.
