After the summer in Frascati

It's summer and Frascati is closed for the next few weeks. We're back in September, kicking off with the Nederlands Theater Festival and the Amsterdam Fringe Festival. Find out what's on here.

September brings a varied programme, here's a glimpse of what's coming.

Premieres

The monologue Beste Mensen is back, with Bram Suijker guiding you through fifty years of climate speeches, from despair to optimism and everything in between. Catch the premiere on Friday 11 September. Bram has also picked up a Theo d'Or nomination for his role in Millennial I Vrede.

Our Frascati maker Veronika Abdul-Visocka asks a pressing question: where does society make room for discomfort and pain, in a world obsessed with success and positivity? She was born for happiness sets out to find the answer.

Performance

Dance and performance lovers are well catered for this autumn. Vertical Blue sees Annemijn Rijk make a radical invitation: surrender, go deep, let go. Or catch Ashes to Ashes by MC Makita, a debut show that takes on death with infectious energy, raw scenes, litres of fake blood and all. It heads out on tour later in the year.

The debate around where trans people should use the bathroom refuses to go away. In Zeikstuk by WILD Producties, 23 trans people between 18 and 65 share their experiences from the smallest room in the house, on their own terms.

English spoken

Earlier this year, master storyteller Thomas Dudkiewicz performed at Frascati with a research evening around his upcoming show Before the Story Starts. The full piece premieres on Wednesday 23 September, a one-man performance that unfolds on the threshold before a story, or perhaps THE story, begins.

Princess Isatu Hassan Bangura brings Wild Woman – Part I: The Bone Collector, rooted in African spiritual traditions. Princess descends into a mythical world of live music, trance, physical exhaustion and visual projections that pull the audience in completely.

More details on each show below. Have a great summer and we look forward to seeing you in September.
