This gathering is the starting point of Out Loud Together, a new artistic and theater project developed by Ari Ochoa and iAra Banchik Almasia. The session opens a shared exploration around consent, intimacy, negotiation, boundaries, audience interaction, and collective care within participatory performance. Together, we will reflect on what happens when a work invites people to witness, respond, move, speak, touch, refuse, negotiate, or become implicated.

The gathering is intended as a space to exchange experiences, share resources, and think collectively through dialogue, writing, embodied exercises, negotiation formats, and relational tools inspired by queer, kinky, and sex-positive communities, where communication, boundaries, and collective care are often approached as active and ongoing practices.

The research is also intended as a space of exchange between artists, facilitators, performers, and participants interested in audience relations, participatory methodologies, intimacy, autobiography, social interaction, and collective processes. Many artistic practices invite closeness, vulnerability, or participation, while questions around boundaries, agency, responsibility, and repair often remain under-discussed. Rather than searching for fixed answers, we want to stay with questions: How do we navigate desire, agency, discomfort, participation, and responsibility together? What kinds of relationships can performance create between bodies, audiences, and spaces? How do we notice limits, misalignment, trust, or care as they emerge? How can consent function as an ongoing artistic and relational practice rather than a fixed agreement?

The conversations, reflections, and materials developed during the session will contribute to the ongoing research, methodologies, and future artistic direction of the project.

  • The gathering is open primarily to FLINTA members connected to Het Verbond, with a limited number of places available for interested members of the wider public.
