During this creative workshop, choreographer Ana Pi invites young dancers (18 years and older) to experiment with joy as inspiration. Participants are introduced to the choreographic guidelines, postures, and movement vocabulary that are central in her most recent work Atomic Joy. This dance performance is featured at Holland Festival on June 5th, 6th and 7th.

With playful yet focused exercises in rhythm, presence, tension, and listening, you are encouraged to create new, unseen images and connect them with each other. Balancing individual freedom and dancing together, Joy is not a metaphor emphasizes the power of memory and disobedience, and how we can collectively strengthen a sense of freedom in movement.

Additionally, the workshop offers a glimpse into Ana Pi’s research « CORPO FIRME: peripheral dances, sacred gesture », which centers on traditions of movement and meaning from the trans-Atlantic African diaspora.
