Welcome to the universe of Mx. CoelaCunt, a fluid being that refuses to be contained. Not by time. Not by binary systems. Not by humans.

Mx. CoelaCunt will live forever is a performance in which creator, musician, and performer Djuwa Mroivili takes you into the depths. Into deep seas, fractured roots, ancient rituals, and new forms of resistance. Djuwa draws connections between Comorian traditions, queer culture, and the mysterious life of the deep sea - a world still largely unknown to humans.

The Comoros Islands, where Djuwa traces a family history, is where the essence of this journey unfolds: a place where oral traditions, music, and campy weddings intertwine the past and present. A place where matriarchal and patriarchal structures coexist. But also a place where European colonizers once stigmatized existence itself and erased the lives of those whose gender and sexuality defied colonial norms.

Mx. CoelaCunt will live forever is a tribute to everything that moves, shifts, and refuses to disappear. An ode to survival - for every body and being that refuses to conform. Through a fluid blend of musical languages, choreography, fashion, spoken word, and glamour, Djuwa creates a performance that is both healing and confrontational.

About Djuwa Mroivili

With a bachelor’s degree in classical music, Djuwa has developed her own artistic practice in which music, theatre, text, fashion, hair, and performance come together on equal footing. She makes tangible how vulnerability can be a source of strength. In addition to her music-theatrical performances, she is also active as a concert pianist, bringing attention to underrepresented composers from the African diaspora within the classical music field. In 2024, her debut album Adoration (2024) was released, in collaboration with double bassist James Oesi.

Djuwa previously appeared at Frascati in the Under Construction program by Frascati Producties with Manquement. Since 2023, she has been affiliated with Productiehuis Theater Rotterdam, where she created the performance I Vow To Distract Forever, which was also presented at Frascati.

With Mx. CoelaCunt will live forever, Djuwa embarks on a deeply personal and exploratory journey. She investigates the role of music and rituals within Comorian culture and the contemporary queer scene, exploring how these practices can create space for resistance and alternative historiography. Drawing from her Dutch-Comorian background, Djuwa employs music and performance as forces of healing.
