Then we have good news for you: Britt is getting involved.
Unburdened by any administrative knowledge or competence, unchained by suffocating party discipline and completely free from old-fashioned moral principles, this breath of fresh air comes in with both feet.
Often it seems like The Hague is pulling the strings, sometimes Brussels but Britt starts local: in the cradle of democracy, where grand electoral promises crash against reality and part-time political talents try to squeeze every last drop out of their ideals.
Meanwhile, divides grow deeper, bubbles grow stronger, and we stand with our hands in our hair watching just how fragile our democracy really is when disruptive forces break the rules of the game.
With this sharp and riotous piece of theatre, De Warme Winkel investigates whether and how to talk to our fact-free fellow citizens. How do we reach each other when arguments no longer matter and science is just another opinion?
The title role is played by Britt Hartog, a self-made woman and an absolute boss, who previously shone in De Warme Winkel's Een oprechte ode aan de Ironie.

About De Warme Winkel
De Warme Winkel is widely celebrated as one of the most exciting theatre companies in the Netherlands. They make work for small and large venues, on location and abroad, and regularly make headlines with provocative actions and projects.
During the first lockdown they created the corona-proof theatre Peepshow Palace, co-founded theatre breeding ground De Sloot with BOG. where countless theatre makers work and reside shared the stage with reality TV stars from Temptation Island and Ex on the Beach in Een oprechte ode aan de Ironie, temporarily changed their name to toneelgroep Amsterdam (and back again), and made front pages with their show Het Zomeroffer in the Amsterdam forest, in which an audience member's car was sacrificed every evening.
Vincent Rietveld is part of the core team of De Warme Winkel. With Britt for President he adds a new text to his body of work in which social themes take centre stage. He previously made a successful trilogy about overpopulation and the box office hit Myrte Siebinga zoekt een kamer, about the housing crisis. Together with Princess Isatu Hassan Bangura he made last year A beauteous evening, calm and free, a memorial service for our dying planet.
