Verbond-maker
My name is Laila Claessen. I am a theatre maker and performer with a fascination for Vedic sciences that runs through everything I create. I work across many forms—solo performances, film, site-specific theatre, and sensory food experiences—but the body always remains my point of departure. Where I once placed words onto my body, I am now increasingly guided by movement and immerse myself in the world of Butoh.
Recently, I have also been working a lot on my own songs. I’m very happy with my place at Het Verbond, where I can further develop this research, playfully experiment, and discover new ways of making.
