Caroline Calsone
Verbond-maker
Caroline Calsone is an Amsterdam-based Brazilian artist working at the intersection of performance, writing, physical practices, and research. Her work delves into themes and/or bodily sensations such as fear, vulnerability, courage, risk, love, guilt, cruelty and death.
She is drawn to the interplay between concrete and dreamlike landscapes, the material and immaterial, the body and its image — always through a feminist lens. Drawing from fairytales, tragedy, contemporary poetry, Butoh dance, memory studies, ghost summoning, and the observation of city monuments, she created The Haunted Movement, a research platform for readings, screenings, and physical investigations devoted to hauntedness in its many forms.
