All Makers Announced for the New Edition of Under Construction
Under Construction is Frascati’s platform for emerging makers who push the boundaries of theatre. Here, they are given space to experiment, deepen their artistic voice, and develop new work.
This edition presents three performances by three distinctive artists.
Joe Sinduhije – KIJUJU
Actor, performer, and theatre maker Joe Sinduhije (1997, Burundi) weaves together music, physical play, and storytelling into a layered theatrical language. In KIJUJU, we follow Bernis Kijuju, a charismatic TV host whose live recording starts to fall apart. As the cracks begin to show, he keeps performing—at all costs.
Joe explores the fragile line between performing and breaking down, between self-preservation and self-loss.
Astrid Rozemarijn Klein Haneveld – The Impossible Astronaut
Dancer, dance maker, and dramaturg Astrid Rozemarijn Klein Haneveld (1997, the Netherlands) makes her solo debut with The Impossible Astronaut. In this deeply personal dance performance, she takes the audience into her own experience of grief, after losing her father at the age of eight.
Interwoven with imagery from Star Wars and Doctor Who, Astrid explores themes of emptiness, loss, vulnerability, and (in)finiteness. The Impossible Astronaut is an intimate, physical reflection on how memory and imagination can hold each other in times of loss.
Aline Olmos Steler – The Origin of the Future
Theatre maker, clown, and performer Aline Olmos Steler (1987, Brazil) uses chaos, absurdity, and humor as her primary languages. In The Origin of the Future, you enter—guided by a mysterious curator—a surreal exhibition of oracle-like underwear. Together with fellow visitors, you decipher intimate prophecies, explore the future of humankind, and transcend space, time, and destiny.
Aline transforms the personal and the bodily into a poetic and radical ritual experience.
