About Sîpan Sezgin Tekin
Sîpan Sezgin Tekin (Amed/Kurdistan 1996) is a multidisciplinary performer and theatre maker whose work explores political and historical narratives through the embodied use of language. Focusing on multilingualism, language physicality, and identity politics, he creates immersive performances that examine the role of mother tongue in shaping identity, performance, and the perception of borders and nationality.
Sîpan graduated from the DAS Theatre Master's programme in 2024. During the April edition of Beginnings by Frascati Producties, he created A , I , U or U , A , I or I , U , A or whatever. Previously, Sîpan appeared at Frascati during the Fringe Festival with The Absent Academy and TOWER. He is also an artist-in-residence at WP Zimmer in Brussels and at Toneelschuur Producties. His work was recently presented at the Beyond the Blackbox festival in both the Netherlands and Flanders.
The press about Sîpan Sezgin Tekin
“An immense sense of incapacity, wrapped in a Dadaist game, rises from the calm persistence with which Tekin keeps trying taking his time, much like chewing on liquorice.”
Theaterkrant on The Cud during the Beyond the Black Box festival“Stories embody resistance and serve as testimonies of triumph. And as long as the fight for justice continues, Sezgin Tekin will keep spreading and passing on these stories.”
