Queens by Emio Greco & Pieter C. Scholten sets the tone with physical and musical disruption. This is followed by Sedrig Verwoert’s new work, The VOID, created for ICK-Next (ICK’s junior company), bringing its own pace, energy and vision to the stage.

Queens brings together iconic pieces of music — Under Pressure, The Sound of Silence, Wuthering Heights and the Queen of the Night-aria from Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte. Here, these familiar pieces are more than the comforting soundtrack of a shared collective memory: they become forces that put the body under pressure.

The dancers move between control and eruption, precision and excess, while virtuosity raises questions about perfection and control.

Sedrig Verwoert’s THE VOID follows, approaching choreography as both research and ceremony, at the intersection of dance and visual art. With the dancers forming a single collective body, patterns slowly unfold and shift. The energy is intense and clear: a choreography that touches on ritual, togetherness and trance.

About Emio Greco | Pieter C. Scholten

Emio Greco and Pieter C. Scholten have built in over more than three decades a diverse and internationally acclaimed body of work spanning contemporary dance, opera, theatre, music and film. The choreographic duo creates intensely physical performances in which the intuitive, inquisitive body takes centre stage. From this starting point, they have developed a distinctive movement vocabulary, first articulated in their artistic manifesto Les Sept Nécessités. In recognition of their exceptional contribution to Dutch dance, Emio and Pieter received the VSCD Golden Swan Award in 2021.

About Sedrig Verwoert

Sedrig Verwoert is a guest artist with ICK Dans Amsterdam, working as a performer and creator across dance, performance and visual art. His international experience in New York and Israel forms an important foundation for his current practice. As a choreographer, he has developed a distinctive signature, including through his work with Dutch National Ballet, where he was a Young Creative Associate. His work explores the relationship between choreography, music, visual art and social themes.
