Laura van Dolron is back with Liefhebben II, in which she once again searches for love, in her own heart, in her surroundings and in world history. It is an evening full of hope and comfort. We celebrate what is beautiful and feel what hurts.

Laura van Dolron overheard a conversation between three women attending a writing workshop at a monastery. One of them was doing most of the talking, words coming easily to her. She mentioned she was going to lead a dance workshop for people who had lost a child. It was new information and you could tell by the silence that followed. Another woman interrupted her and spoke about the six-year-old girl she had lost. Again, silence fell. No one asked for the girl's name or her favourite cuddly toy. Why did no one give this mother the chance to bring her child back to life, just for a moment, in words?

This show is for her, and for everyone who knows what love or loss feels like. Laura herself is a mother who once lost a little child.

"I made Liefhebben to comfort myself. For ten years I have performed it once a year as a monument to love and to the people we miss."

It was time for a sequel, inspired by the many examples of love she discovered along the way. Everywhere she went, she met people with tears longing to fall. Liefhebben II is a collage of love stories, a place to rest where we live instead of perform and where we laugh through our tears. That is always love! Come and see it and drop a floor from your head to your heart.

About the maker

Laura van Dolron created her own genre: stand-up philosophy. Together with her audience she searches for what is beautiful and what could be better. She uses theatre as a place to be genuine, because she believes there is already enough pretending in "real" life. Laura comforts and confronts. She wants her audience to laugh and to think. She shows that vulnerability is a strength this world needs.
