PART is about emptiness and fragmentation. What remains when we withdraw or delete something? What potential does negative space have? What comes to light when we unravel the whole and look at the individual parts? Emptiness is often associated with loss, but PART shows that it can also mean new potential – right now.
With Beethoven's monumental string quartet op.132 as point of departure, one of his last and most rich works, choreographer Ben-Tal and the ensemble of ten top dancers and musicians deconstruct and play with the notion of emptiness.
The audience sits around the stage. With the additional element of Salvador Breed's magical sound composition, PART takes the audience on an emotional and philosophical journey through space, movement and sound.
On Wednesday, March 8, there will be an aftertalk. Present in this aftertalk are choreographer Amos Ben-Tal, composer and sound designer Salvador Breed and one of the musicians of Ragazze Quartet. Together they will provide insight into the relationship between the music, dance and spatiality in the piece and share experiences from the creative process.
The talk will be in English.
