The students of the School for New Dance Development work in the studios of Dansmakers in Amsteram-Noord. For six weeks they will work under the leadership of the strong-willed Japanese musician and choreographer Hisako Horikawa. The result is displayed during A Taste of Something Raw,

Hisako Horikawa works on the basis of personal research into the possibilities of voice and body. She started the Body Weather Laboratory with Butoh legend Min Tanaka, and led her own company, Maijuku, until 1998. Honikawa currently creates performances with a range of artists and musicians throughout the world. She worked with cellist Tristan Honsinger, saxophonist Ab Baars, pianist Augusti Fernández and guitarist Derek Bailey and danced in the Dutch punk rock band The Ex. She frequently chooses forgotten urban locations for her performances and regularly works with children, amateurs and older professional dancers.
