Hear Word!

Ifeoma Fafunwa

African style satire by top Nigerian actresses

Women openly expressing their opinions on the deep-rooted inequality between men and women is not something you will hear too often in countries such as Nigeria. Hear Word! breaks through this culture of silence with a stand-up show crammed full of colourful characters unafraid to tackle any subject. Ten leading actresses engage in a revealing commentary on highly charged themes such as arranged marriage, domestic violence and female genital mutilation, as well as more universal topics such as the limited role played by women in government and politics. They present personal stories of Nigerian women with compassion and humour, accompanied by powerful commentary. A passionate indictment of the status quo and a powerful call for change: Hear Word!
